Tell us about your specialism and why you chose it

I specialise in the water sector, with expertise in hydraulics, pressure pipelines, pumping stations and multidisciplinary infrastructure delivery. I chose water engineering because it directly supports public health, sustainable growth and environmental outcomes, while offering complex, system-wide challenges that require both technical depth and strategic leadership.

Why did you choose to join Mott MacDonald?

I joined Mott MacDonald for its reputation for technical excellence, ethical engineering and commitment to developing people. The opportunity to work on major infrastructure projects while being supported to grow technically and professionally made it an ideal place to start and build a long-term career.

How has your career progressed since joining?

Since joining as a graduate civil engineer, I’ve  progressed to chartered engineer, senior, principal, and now water market lead for South Australia and global sub-market lead – water supply. My role has evolved from technical design into market leadership, client relationships, framework management and building capability and teams across the water sector.

What have you learnt while working at Mott MacDonald?

I’ve learnt the importance of combining strong technical foundations with collaboration, leadership and commercial awareness. Delivering major programmes across the UK and Australia has reinforced the value of quality, risk-based decision-making, and investing in people to achieve better outcomes for clients and communities.

How do you demonstrate technical excellence in your work?

I demonstrate technical excellence by leading complex hydraulic and infrastructure designs, acting as project principal or design director, and setting high standards for quality, review and governance. I also promote innovation and digital solutions to improve efficiency, safety and consistency across programmes.

How do you contribute to Mott MacDonald making a difference to people and the planet?

My work supports resilient, sustainable water and wastewater systems that protect communities and the environment. This includes improving development assessment processes, enabling long-term infrastructure programmes and delivering projects that reduce flood risk, support growth and improve environmental performance.

Where in the world has your role taken you?

My role has taken me across the UK and Australia, working with major water utilities and government agencies. I’ve also led and collaborated with international delivery teams, supporting global knowledge sharing and integrated project delivery.

Are you involved in any additional initiatives at Mott MacDonald, aside from your day-to-day role?

I contribute to market strategy, mentoring and team development, technical governance and client secondment programmes. I support integrated client teams and capability building, helping strengthen long-term partnerships and broaden Mott MacDonald’s impact.
