We expect our suppliers, contractors, and business partners to uphold the same high standards by working with those who operate in a way that is consistent with this Supplier Code of Conduct and our PRIDE values.

1 Respecting people

1.1 Creating a respectful work environment

  • Treat all individuals fairly, with dignity and respect.
  • Maintain a workplace free from bullying, harassment, and discrimination.
  • Commit to the safeguarding of children, young people and vulnerable individuals at risk of harm.

1.2 Equality, diversity and inclusion

  • Embrace diversity and foster inclusive practices.
  • Avoid discrimination based on age, race, gender, disability, sexual orientation, religion, or any other personal attribute or identity.
  • Address inappropriate behaviours, language, or practices that undermine equality, dignity, or inclusion.

1.3 Health, safety and wellbeing

  • Provide a safe and healthy working environment.
  • Comply with all applicable health and safety laws and regulations.
  • Encourage wellbeing and mental health awareness.
  • Performance and judgement must never be impaired by alcohol or drugs.

2 Conducting business with integrity

2.1 Anti-bribery and corruption

  • Comply with all applicable anti-bribery and corruption laws.
  • Do not offer, give, solicit, or accept bribes, corruption, or facilitation payments.
  • Maintain effective systems and controls to prevent and detect bribery and corruption within your organisation and across third parties.

2.2 Fraud

  • Comply with applicable anti-fraud laws, including the UK Economic Crime and Corporate Transparency Act (ECCTA).
  • Do not make dishonest statements, conceal required information, abuse your position, falsify records, or collude in fraudulent activity.
  • Maintain effective systems and controls to prevent and detect fraud within your organisation and supply chain.

2.3 Money laundering

  • Comply with all laws prohibiting money laundering and the financing of illegal or illegitimate activities.
  • Conduct business only with reputable counterparties engaged in legitimate activities and using funds from lawful sources.
  • Maintain appropriate controls to identify and mitigate money laundering risks. 

2.4 Tax evasion

  • Comply with all laws relating to the prevention of tax evasion.
  • Do not conceal or misrepresent income, falsify expenses, hide cash transactions, misuse offshore accounts, or evade value added tax.
  • Maintain effective systems and controls to prevent and detect tax evasion.

2.5 Gifts and hospitality

  • Do not offer or accept gifts or hospitality that could improperly influence business decisions.
  • Ensure all gifts and hospitality are transparent, proportionate, and appropriately disclosed.

2.6 Conflicts of interest

  • Disclose any actual, potential, or perceived conflicts of interest, including those relevant to your relationship with Mott MacDonald, to your Mott MacDonald representative.
  • Avoid situations that could compromise impartiality or integrity.

2.7 Fair competition

  • Comply with all applicable competition and antitrust laws.
  • Do not engage in collusion, including price fixing, bid rigging, market sharing, production control, wage fixing, or no-poach agreements.
  • Do not abuse market power through practices such as predatory pricing, exclusive dealing, tying/bundling, or misuse of intellectual property.

2.8 Trade compliance

  • Adhere to all national and international trade laws, sanctions regimes, and import and export controls.
  • Conduct due diligence on business partners and transactions to ensure compliance with applicable trade requirements.

3 Protecting assets and reputation

3.1 Intellectual property and confidentiality

  • Respect Mott MacDonald’s intellectual property and confidential information.
  • Do not disclose or misuse proprietary data.

3.2 Information security

  • Implement appropriate safeguards to protect data and systems.
  • Report any security breaches promptly.

3.3 Privacy and data protection

  • Comply with privacy and data protection laws; and respect the privacy rights and freedoms of individuals.
  • Be open and transparent about how personal information is processed and never use it for unauthorised or unlawful purposes.
  • Protect the confidentiality and integrity of personal information; and ensure that it is accurate and kept up to date.
  • Provide appropriate training to individuals with access to personal information, to ensure they understand their legal and ethical responsibilities.

3.4 Public communications and political activity

  • Do not speak publicly on behalf of Mott MacDonald without prior approval from the Group Press Office: MottMacDonaldPressOffice@mottmac.com.
  • Keep personal political activities separate from business engagements.

4 Delivering value to society

4.1 Sustainability

  • Comply with all relevant environmental legislation and regulations.
  • Minimise environmental impact and promote sustainable practices.
  • Report any breaches or incidents to the appropriate authorities.
  • Where applicable have an environmental management system
  • Support Mott MacDonald’s net-zero goal by working to reduce carbon emissions in your operations and supply chain. This may include measuring and disclosing emissions and setting science-aligned carbon reduction targets.
  • If requested provide accurate data on your environmental performance and be willing to collaborate to drive continual improvement.
  • Make procurement choices that reduces the impact on the climate, preserves natural resources, and benefits local communities.
  • Make a positive difference in the communities in which you operate.

4.2 Human rights

  • Respect human rights and reject all forms of modern slavery, including for example servitude, forced or compulsory labour and human trafficking.
  • Ensure fair wages and ethical treatment across supply chains.
  • Do not engage in or be complicit in human rights abuses.
  • Do not practice debt bondage or confiscate identification documents.
  • Have zero-tolerance for discrimination, harassment, victimisation and intimidating or offensive behaviour.
  • We prohibit the charging of recruitment or employment fees to workers by our suppliers, subcontractors, or their labour agents. 

5 Reporting concerns

5.1 Speak Up

  • Promote a culture that encourages concerns and issues to be raised, that does not tolerate retaliation and addresses those reports.
  • Provide a way for your employees, suppliers and business partners to raise concerns to you if they see something that is not right, unsafe, unethical or harmful.
  • Suppliers are encouraged to report any concerns or suspected breaches of this Code via Mott MacDonald’s independent and confidential Speak Up helpline:
  • Where suppliers do not have their own reporting mechanism in place and the concern is in relation to Mott MacDonald work, their staff may use Mott MacDonald’s Speak Up helpline.
