As a participant in our summer internship program, Prelaunch, you’ll embark on a structured three‑month development journey designed to give you the foundational building blocks for starting a successful career at Mott MacDonald.


Your responsibilities may include: 

  • Designing engineering solutions 
  • Conducting site inspections and monitoring 
  • Joining project and client meetings 
  • Refining technical designs and documentation 
  • Analyzing reports and specifications 
  • Exploring project and client management 
  • Leveraging digital tools and innovation 
  • Driving sustainable outcomes 
  • Building connections through our Early Career Professionals Network 

Candidate Specification 

We are looking for a motivated student or early-career professional who is interested in infrastructure, technology, data, and project delivery. The successful candidate will bring curiosity, energy, and a willingness to learn, supported by strong analytical skills and a practical problem-solving mindset. 

 

Required Qualifications 

  • Currently studying, or recently completed study, in engineering, construction management, computer science, data science, information management, architecture, planning, or a related discipline. 
  • Strong interest in the engineering, infrastructure, or built environment sector. 
  • Strong data and analytics capability, with an interest in using data to improve decision-making and project outcomes. 
  • Interest in AI, machine learning, automation, and emerging digital technologies. 
  • Good problem-solving skills and the ability to work through unfamiliar challenges. 
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills. 
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team. 
  • Ability to operate semi-independently with guidance and support. 
  • Organized, reliable, and able to manage assigned tasks through to completion. 
  • Eager to learn, ask questions, and develop practical industry experience. 

 

Preferred Qualifications 

  • Experience with data analysis, dashboards, reporting, visualization, or programming. 
  • Familiarity with tools such as Excel, Power BI, Python, SQL, or similar data and analytics platforms. 
  • Awareness of BIM, GIS, digital twins, Common Data Environments, or digital project delivery platforms. 
  • Familiarity with Autodesk, Bentley, Esri, Microsoft 365, SharePoint, Power Platform, or similar tools. 
  • Understanding of infrastructure project delivery, design coordination, construction processes, or engineering workflows. 
  • Experience working on academic, internship, research, or project-based assignments involving data, automation, AI, or digital tools. 
  • Interest in applying technology to improve productivity, quality, collaboration, and consistency on projects. 

 

This position is located in San Diego, CA. You must be able to reliably commute to our office in this location, per our hybrid working policy.

Individual pay is determined based on several factors such as work location, education, experience, and unique skills.

 

 

The expected salary for this position is $18/hr - $30/hr
