About the Role

Mott MacDonald is seeking an experienced High Voltage (HV) Transmission Cables Engineer to join its expanding Transmission & Distribution division. The role focuses on the design and delivery of transmission cable systems for major energy infrastructure projects, including underground interconnectors and offshore wind farms. 

Key Responsibilities
Design HVAC and HVDC transmission cable systems for onshore and offshore projects.
Integrate HV cables into substations, converter stations, and grid networks.
Conduct feasibility studies, risk assessments, and cost analyses.
Deliver Front-End Engineering Design (FEED) solutions.
Lead cable system design during consenting stages and coordinate with civil and environmental teams.
Produce tender-stage and detailed construction-stage cable system designs.
Troubleshoot issues during installation, operation, and maintenance.
Stay updated on advancements in HV cable materials, insulation, and transmission technologies.

Essential Requirements
Degree in Electrical Engineering.
Experience in transmission cable systems engineering.
Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities related to transmission power cable systems.
Ability to tackle new challenges and work independently.
Strong report-writing and written communication skills.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. 

Desirable Requirements
Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering.
Experience with both onshore and offshore transmission cable systems.
Experience working with UK and Ireland utility cable projects.
Experience with HVAC and HVDC cable transmission system
