About the role
As a Principal Structural Engineer, you will lead project teams on building structures projects, combining technical delivery with managerial leadership. You will work across a variety of built environment projects, applying a strong structural engineering background to deliver quality outcomes within agreed scope, budget and timescales.
You will promote a collaborative working approach, mentor junior engineers and technicians, and provide technical direction throughout concept, scheme and detailed design stages. This role will involve preparation and review of designs, specifications, calculations, drawings, risk assessments and technical outputs, as well as presenting structural design approaches to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Key responsibilities and duties are listed, but not limited to, the below:
Prepare designs, specifications, calculations, drawings and risk assessments for maintenance, refurbishment and new build schemes, obtaining statutory approvals where required.
Lead the preparation of concept, scheme and detailed design calculations and drawings for structural engineering projects.
Undertake structural engineering analysis and design across building structures projects.
Inspect works carried out on site and monitor quality and compliance with design requirements.
Be accountable for the timely production and delivery of reliable design solutions, reports, specifications and drawings.
Provide effective task and resource management, monitoring delivery against agreed scope, programme and budget.
Provide structural technical support and manage the technical accuracy of project delivery.
Present technical aspects of projects and structural design approaches to technical and non-technical audiences.
Maintain comprehensive knowledge of current technical engineering codes and practices, contributing to technical matters at project and divisional level.
Mentor and support the technical development of junior engineers and technicians.
Support continuous improvement and digital ways of working, sharing knowledge and lessons learned.

Candidate specification:
Essential
Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
Membership of a professional engineering institute, namely ICE or IStructE.
Experience in engineering design, primarily in building structures, with increasing responsibility and project complexity.
Experience working in an international design consultancy.
Experience in KSA with an understanding of KSA codes, standards and authorities.
Demonstrable record of successfully designing and delivering building structures projects.
Experience planning and monitoring project programmes, costs and resources to ensure delivery to time and budget.
Strong interpersonal, written and oral communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively at all levels including external stakeholders.
Desirable
Experience using analytical and design software such as Robot, Revit, Etabs, Staad, CSC, RAM and Tedds.
Knowledge of BIM and standard industry software skills.
Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office products, including Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
Ability to manage multiple teams with diverse backgrounds across geographically and culturally diverse environments.
Adaptive mindset with strategic and critical thinking, a proactive approach to complex tasks and a focus on innovation and improvement.
