Job Profile & Description:

 

About the role

The Senior T&C Engineer will be responsible for planning, managing, and executing testing and commissioning activities for all building and infrastructure systems. The role ensures that all MEP, electrical, and system interfaces are fully tested, compliant with RTA standards, and safely integrated without disrupting ongoing metro operations.

 

 

Key responsibilities and duties are listed, but not limited to, below:

1. Testing & Commissioning Planning

  • Develop and implement T&C strategies, procedures, and schedules in line with project requirements.
  • Prepare method statements, inspection & test plans (ITPs), and commissioning procedures.
  • Coordinate testing sequences across multiple systems to ensure efficient commissioning.

 

2. System Commissioning & Validation

  • Lead testing and commissioning of key systems including:
    • Electrical systems (LV/MV, lighting, earthing)
    • Mechanical systems (HVAC, ventilation, smoke extraction)
    • Plumbing and drainage systems
    • Fire protection and life safety systems (fire alarm, suppression)
    • Building Management System (BMS) interfaces (excluding comms scope)
  • Ensure all systems operate as per design specifications and performance criteria.

 

3. Interface & Integration Management

  • Ensure proper integration of new systems with existing metro infrastructure.
  • Coordinate closely with civil, rail systems, IT/OT, and MEP teams.
  • Manage interfaces in a live operational metro environment, ensuring no impact on existing services.

 

4. Compliance & Quality Assurance

  • Ensure all systems comply with RTA standards, local regulations, and international codes.
  • Witness and verify contractor testing, inspections, and commissioning activities.
  • Review technical submissions, test reports, and commissioning documentation.

 

5. Operational Readiness & Handover

  • Conduct system performance testing, integrated system testing (IST), and final validation.
  • Ensure readiness for safe operation prior to handover.
  • Prepare commissioning dossiers, O&M manuals, and handover documentation.
  • Support training of client and operations teams.

 

6. Risk Management & Troubleshooting

  • Identify risks related to system installation and commissioning phases.
  • Troubleshoot system deficiencies and coordinate corrective actions.
  • Ensure minimal disruption to ongoing metro operations during all testing activities.

 

7. Stakeholder Coordination

  • Liaise with RTA representatives, consultants, contractors, and vendors.
  • Provide technical support and leadership to T&C teams on-site.
  • Ensure effective communication across all disciplines.

 

  • Support continuous improvement and digital ways of working, sharing knowledge and lessons learned.

Candidate specifications:

 

 

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Building Services Engineering (or related discipline).

 

Experience

  • Significant experience in Testing & Commissioning of MEP/building systems.
  • Strong experience in metro, rail, airport, or critical infrastructure projects.
  • Mandatory experience working in live/operational environments.
  • Proven track record in system integration and commissioning of complex infrastructure projects.

 

Technical Skills

  • Strong knowledge of MEP systems and commissioning processes.
  • Familiarity with international standards (ASHRAE, NFPA, IEC, etc.) and local UAE/RTA regulations.
  • Experience with Integrated System Testing (IST) and performance validation.
  • Understanding of BMS and system interfaces (non-communication focus).
  • Ability to review drawings, schematics, and technical documents.
