Global Delivery Services Centre (GDSC) is a high-impact business unit within Mott MacDonald, dedicated to enhancing project delivery across our global operations.

Role: 

As our ENC Division continues to grow, we are seeking a Senior Contract Specialist to join our team with a bias towards UK infrastructure contracts. You will have the opportunity to gain experience in a wide variety of commercial disciplines including contract reviews, contract advice, cross border delivery, disputes, claims, tax and insurance. A proven track record of advising on contract matters across a range of jurisdictions is a distinct advantage, in particular UK civil law. Ideally you will have proven experience of delivering contract reviews, drafting and negotiation. Above all we are seeking someone who seeks to collaborate with excellent teamworking skills and would consider graduates with the right mindset. 

Reporting to the Senior member in the team, role holder will be responsible for delivering below outcomes as part of Global Delivery Services Centre in India: 

 

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Draft, review, and negotiate a broad range of commercial agreements, including consultancy agreements, framework agreements, memorandums of understanding and non-disclosure agreements.
  • Review NEC Contract and bespoke T&Cs to highlight risks and triggers. Liaise with legal team and minimize the risk associated with the Contract
  • Overlook the Administration work required for maintaining the Contract Store
  • Conduct commercial reviews to identify departures from our governance parameters (which will be taught) and assist project teams in obtaining the necessary internal approvals.
  • Draft and update commercial guidance to raise awareness of recurrent topics and new regulations in key markets and jurisdictions.
  • Assisting the Divisional Commercial Managers and Portfolio Commercial members of ENC. This may include leading on commercial risk management for our projects in WIN and DO phase.
  • Monitor contractual requirements that need to be adhered to in the DO phase as per the contract and STEP.
  • Support other Mott MacDonald functions in support of governance including liaison with the Legal Department, Ethics & Compliance, Data Protection and our Insurance teams. 

 

Candidate qualification and experience: 

  • LLB or Quantity Surveying degree (preferred), Alternatively, bachelor’s degree in engineering from any discipline.
  • 9-12 years of overall experience with at least 4/5 years of relevant experience in pre-contract review & assurance with a large engineering or construction company (must have)
  • Understanding of UK infrastructure contract law (preferred) and use of standardised contracts (e.g. New Engineering Contract). (must have)
  • Good practical experience of the application of legal principles and commercial law.  
  • Great analytical skills and excellent legal knowledge.  
  • Ability to multitask, problem solve, and balance competing priorities.  
  • Ability to communicate effectively and confidently with a wide range of stakeholders, with strong negotiation skills.  
  • Ability to work autonomously or as part of a bigger team.
