Mott MacDonald is currently seeking a highly motivated Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our dynamic team of professionals in our Toronto location. You will work in a professional environment with an established building services team where you will be offered the opportunity to work on an exciting range of projects, and to continue your professional development.

 

As a Senior Mechanical Engineer, working as an integral part of the Built Environment (buildings and facilities) team, your duties will include but not be limited to the following:

  • Managing the delivery of assigned projects
  • Working and liaising with associated engineering disciplines as part of delivering projects
  • Managing internal and external stakeholders, ensuring client satisfaction and pursuing and promoting opportunities with existing as well as prospective clients
  • Developing engineering from a feasibility stage to completion, and articulation to the support team
  • Development of resilient and redundant services infrastructure solutions
  • Working as part of a multi-discipline team to deliver projects
  • Working with the leadership team to grow the Mechanical team in Canada and the overall footprint of the business
  • Co-ordinating mechanical design with architectural and other disciplines
  • Carrying out design and calculation work using relevant industry software
  • Developing, maintaining and monitoring programs for scheduling and reporting on deliverables across specific projects
  • Maximizing profitability of projects, monitoring against budget, reacting and anticipating potential problems and communicating in line with client expectations
  • Demonstrating technical expertise, providing in-depth knowledge and leadership whilst proactively coaching and developing more junior team members
  • Providing expert engineering input into design; and evaluation of built environment proposals.
  • Mentoring other Mechanical Engineers and Designers and support developing their growth plans with the Mechanical Discipline Lead.

 

The ideal candidate will have the following experience:

  • Bachelor degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited university
  • Professional Engineer status with a relevant professional body in Canada
  • At least 10 years’ relevant experience in mechanical building services design and execution for major development with a consultancy and/or design and build background.
  • Experience of working in various infrastructure projects including buildings, airports, and large-scale transport infrastructure
  • Solid knowledge in Canada building standards, codes and regulations
  • Excellent understanding of BIM/VDC, preferably with experience in a BIM tool
  • Experience in the design of plumbing and drainage systems
  • Skills in sustainability and green initiatives, with a demonstrated track record
  • Positive ‘can-do’ attitude, to working with colleagues and clients.
  • Familiar with energy modelling software such as IESVE, Trace and HAPP
  • Experience in LEED, with LEED accreditation preferred.
  • A collaborative, open and constructive approach with developed relationship management, interpersonal and influencing skills.
  • A digital and sustainability advocate.
  • Adaptable to working within different client environments/cultures.
  • Willing and able to travel within Canada and internationally as required to support projects.

Multiple factors such as qualifications, overall experience and position responsibilities will be used to determine the successful candidate's actual salary within the expected range.

 

 

The expected salary range for this position is from $120,000 - $145,000.
