Senior Project Manager – Auckland

Mott MacDonald New Zealand is a dynamic and innovative engineering, management and development consultancy working with high-profile clients across Aotearoa. As a proudly employee-owned business, we’re driven by a clear purpose – improving society through what we do.

Our Advisory and Project Strategy & Delivery team continues to grow, and we’re looking for an experienced Senior Project Manager to join our Auckland team.

This is an opportunity to take a leading role across a diverse portfolio of infrastructure projects, working with clients across transport, water, and the built environment.

The role

As a Senior Project Manager, you’ll take ownership of complex projects from early planning through to successful delivery.

You’ll play a key role in:

  • Leading the delivery of infrastructure projects across their full lifecycle
  • Managing client relationships and acting as a trusted advisor
  • Coordinating multidisciplinary teams across design, advisory and delivery
  • Overseeing programme, cost, risk and quality outcomes
  • Supporting commercial performance, including project financials
  • Coaching and mentoring junior project managers and team members
  • Contributing to business development, bids and client engagement

What you’ll bring

  • Strong experience delivering infrastructure or engineering projects within a consultancy or client-side environment
  • Proven ability to manage complex projects, stakeholders and delivery risks
  • Confident client-facing skills, with the ability to build long-term relationships
  • Commercial awareness and experience managing budgets and project performance
  • Experience working across multidisciplinary teams
  • A relevant tertiary qualification (engineering, project management or similar)
  • Professional membership (or working toward it) such as Engineering New Zealand or Project Management Institute

Why join us

At Mott MacDonald, you’ll be trusted to do meaningful work that makes a real difference.

We offer:

  • The opportunity to lead nationally significant infrastructure projects
  • A collaborative, supportive team environment across New Zealand
  • Flexibility and a strong focus on wellbeing
  • Ongoing learning, development and career progression
  • Employee ownership and the chance to share in our success
  • A culture that values diversity, inclusion and different perspectives
