Role
We are seeking a motivated Senior Quantity Surveyor to join our team. In this role, you will report to seniors and take responsibility for the commercial and cost management of projects or programmes from initiation through to completion. Acting as the commercial lead within the delivery team, you will provide essential support to both the Project Manager and Construction team. Your focus will be on managing costs effectively, maximising value, and minimising future risks, all while ensuring the highest standards of quality and safety are maintained. 

 

Key responsibilities include:

  • Leadership 
    • Taking the lead for the Commercial aspects of project delivery 
    • Foster a collaborative, performance-driven culture ensuring the highest standards in commercial practices.
  • Delivery
    • Work closely with procurement, Construction Manager, and Project Manager to develop and monitor procurement strategy.  
    • Regularly engage with the site team to manage outputs, challenge performance, and communicate necessary changes. 
  • Commercial Awareness
    • Oversee commercial and cost management for assigned projects. 
    • Collaborate with the estimating team to ensure accurate estimates that account for scope, risks, and opportunities.  
    • Facilitate feedback on actual costs to inform estimators. 
    • Ensure proper preparation and management of subcontracts in line with contractual obligations. 
    • Maintain up-to-date contract files, responding to communications and managing payments and events.
  • Stakeholder & Communications 
    • Maintain a strong relationship with the project delivery team. 
    • Maintain a strong relationship with our supply chain.
  • Innovation – Always exploring  
    • Drive continuous improvement initiatives in commercial processes and tools. 
    • Explore and implement new commercial strategies that support sustainable outcomes.
    • Challenge and recommend actions to achieve and improve efficiencies, and create an environment of outperformance  

 

Qualifications and Experience 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Civil Engineering a related discipline OR demonstrable equivalent experience. 
  • Proven experience working as a Quantity Surveyor in construction, infrastructure, or related industries 
  • Membership of a relevant professional body (e.g., RICS, CICES) 
  • Experience with NEC3 PSC and ECC contracts with the client and the supply chain, with emphasis on Option C 
  • Hands-on experience with pre- and post-contract QS duties (budgeting, variations, valuations, final accounts).
  • Experience working with Clients, contractors, and a multidisciplinary team across multiple project stages.  
  • Proficiency in QS software tools (e.g Excel, FastDraft, DocuSign) 
  • Experience requied min 9+ in Quantity Surveyor.
