Mott MacDonald’s Kevin Mitchell was yesterday appointed president-elect of the Chartered Institution of Building Services Engineers (CIBSE) at the institution’s AGM, having previously held the position of vice president and trustee.
As president-elect, Kevin will take a leading and public role in the affairs on the institution, working with the president in helping CIBSE achieve its goals, represent the president at events when required, and chair various committee groups.
Kevin will hold the title of president-elect for a year, during which time he will prepare for his own term as president, which will start in May 2022. Following in the footsteps of Prof. Andy Ford who held the position in 2011, Kevin will be the second Mott MacDonald employee to act as president of CIBSE.
With thirty years’ experience in the sector, Kevin leads the Mott MacDonald’s global building services practice. He has delivered a range of multi-discipline design projects spanning numerous countries and industries.
Commenting on his appointment, Kevin said: “I’m incredibly honoured to have been appointed as president-elect of CIBSE and to have been chosen to represent our membership. We are now into a second year of a global pandemic and, as building services engineers, we have a vital role to play in the challenges we face as a society; to make our buildings not only sustainable and liveable, but now also pandemic resilient.”
CIBSE is the professional body for building services engineers and offers professional registration and training for members and the industry. It is regularly consulted by government and publishes internationally recognised guidance and codes and the criteria for best practice in the profession.
