Mott MacDonald has been awarded the Ministry of Defence’s Defence Employer Recognition Scheme gold award. It is the first time the consultancy has been awarded the top award, having moved from silver to gold just two years.
The Ministry of Defence’s Defence Employer Recognition Scheme recognises organisations and businesses that pledge, demonstrate or advocate support to defence and the armed forces community. To achieve an award, an employer’s values must also be aligned with the Armed Forces Covenant.
Mott MacDonald was awarded gold for the consultancy’s continued and improved support to the whole service family, from recruiting and supporting service leavers, supporting reservists and cadet instructors with paid leave for training, as well as support to those who deploy on operations and to the wider service family. Mott MacDonald is working with other organisations to support spouses and partners of military personnel looking for work, including through CV writing and interview techniques and the offer of employment.
Liz Baldwin, managing director of highways and intelligent transport systems at Mott MacDonald said: “We are hugely proud to have been awarded gold status in the MoD’s Employer Recognition Scheme. As a business, we recognise the skills that service leavers, reservists and cadet instructors bring particularly in the areas of leadership and management and we have seen first-hand the benefits that employees with these backgrounds bring. Our global business allows us to offer employment to the wider service families in one location with the ability to support internal transfers when their spouse or partner is deployed to a different location, ensuring career progression and the retention of our fantastic people.”
The gold award will enable Mott MacDonald to provide even more support across the service family spectrum with increased recruitment of service leavers and spouses and an increase in employees joining the reserves.
