Supporting national flood protection through collaborative delivery

Mott MacDonald will play a key role in delivering England’s £4.2bn flood and coastal erosion risk management programme, following its appointment to the Environment Agency’s Flood Risk and Asset Management (FRAM) Lots under the Government Commercial Agency’s Construction Professional Services 2 framework.

The four-year appointment will see the global engineering, management and development consultancy provide technical, environmental and commercial management services, helping to strengthen resilience in communities most vulnerable to flooding, while also supporting wider economic and environmental outcomes.

This latest success builds on a long-standing relationship between Mott MacDonald and the Environment Agency. The two have worked together for over 20 years on some of the UK’s most significant flood defence programmes, contributing to increased protection, greater investor confidence in at-risk regions and enhanced environmental outcomes.

As part of FRAM, Mott MacDonald will bring together its full-service capabilities to support delivery across the programme lifecycle. It will provide a comprehensive suite of professional services to support the planning, assuring and delivering of the portfolio of work, spanning technical, environmental and commercial disciplines.

The company will also support the Environment Agency in progressing its 2030 ambitions by helping to optimise the performance of existing assets, accelerate the development of new schemes and unlock efficiencies through digital tools and smarter ways of working, while embedding sustainability across delivery and operations.

Andy Dellar, Mott MacDonald Environment Agency client director and framework director said: “Our appointment is particularly welcome as it represents the continuation of a longstanding successful partnership between Mott MacDonald and the Environment Agency, built over many years of collaborative delivery. This enduring relationship reflects strong mutual trust, a shared commitment to high standards and a proven track record of delivering value on complex and nationally important programmes. We look forward to working with the Environment Agency and all framework partners to support the effective delivery of this critically important programme and to achieve positive outcomes for communities and the environment”.
