About the Division
The Water Utilities Division is Mott MacDonald’s centre of excellence for responding to the UK and Ireland's water and wastewater challenges. The work we do is at the forefront of ensuring safe water supplies for future generations, preventing urban flooding, and improving the health of our rivers and coastal environments. Our multi-disciplinary teams provide a variety of services throughout the full project life cycle, from advisory services and feasibility studies to outline and detailed design. Together, we deliver best-in-class solutions to our clients while offering diverse and technically stimulating opportunities to our people.
Overview of the role
Join our growing, multidisciplinary Water Utilities Division and deliver electrical, instrumentation, control and automation (EICA) solutions on nationally significant projects as the water sector responds to the generational challenges of climate change and growing demand.
You will be leading EICA project teams, shaping key design decisions, and collaborating closely with colleagues local and international, the client, and contractors. You will also support and mentor junior staff. As your career develops, you can pursue technical, commercial, or people leadership depending on your interests and skills.
We are looking for people to join us in driving excellence, innovation and efficiency in project delivery. Alongside varied day-to-day EICA engineering work, we offer opportunities to specialise in skills such as lightning protection or functional safety.
We have worked on projects such as Thames Water’s Wastewater Asset Assurance Programme, Thames Tideway Tunnel, Leeds Flood Alleviation Scheme, and the Fens Reservoir.
Depending on the needs of each project, you will undertake a wide range of electrical & ICA tasks, such as:
If you are working towards professional registration with the IET, you will have access to an industry representative within our team, and we offer mentoring, community, and targeted support to help you progress towards this goal.
We welcome applications from engineers who have experience in either electrical engineering OR ICA engineering. You will be supported to broaden your capability across both disciplines with the intention of becoming an integrated EICA engineer.
