Achieving net zero emissions in the UK by 2050 requires a profound transformation of the infrastructure systems that underpin society. To deliver this transformation, we collaborated with the best of the UK's expertise across government, industry and academia to form the Net Zero Infrastructure Industry Coalition (NZIIC).
Since 2019, our goal has been to rapidly mobilise the UK infrastructure sector to meet the net zero challenge by 2050, or earlier, and support the UK in becoming an international leader in net zero across the global infrastructure industry.

The Coalition’s objectives
Since it was founded, the Net Zero Infrastructure Industry Coalition has continued to demonstrate its clear leadership, innovative thinking and collective expertise, supporting our goal of a good net zero; one that enables economic prosperity and a just transition.
Through our objectives, the Coalition is:
- Supporting governments by providing and demonstrating leadership from across the infrastructure industry, and inspiring others to impartially help shape policy and guide its practical implementation.
- Using our considerable resources to convene stakeholder groups and advise governments on the delivery of infrastructure to achieve net zero by 2050 or earlier.
- Supporting the development and implementation of regulation and standards by working closely with policy and standards setting organisations.
- Providing regular communication and high-quality practical guidance on key aspects of achieving net zero in the infrastructure industry.
- Managing working groups to develop guidance and organise impactful events and meetings to disseminate knowledge.
