Biography

Ian has held several senior roles since joining Mott MacDonald in 2008 including associate director for advisory in Sheffield, UK technical director for quantity surveying, and Group knowledge manager.

He played a key role in delivering quantity surveying and commercial management services across the UK defence business, successfully supporting the Defence Infrastructure Organisation on projects across land, air and sea. He also commercially led several major programmes focused on defence estate rationalisation.

Ian went onto become the global practice leader for defence and security, where he was responsible for driving excellence across the global defence market. In this role, he helped establish our Defence Academy, and was a core member of both the UK and global defence leadership teams.

He subsequently supported growth in the water sector with United Utilities, leading the commercial closeout of Asset Management Period 7 (AMP7) while also joining the Mott MacDonald account leadership team.

A Fellow of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS), Ian has also been instrumental in developing our approach to 5D building information modelling, our quantity surveying apprenticeship programme and supporting colleagues through the RICS Assessment of Professional Competence to achieve chartered status.
