On completion of the Finding Your Future work experience programme, you will achieve a Silver Level Industrial Cadets Award.
The programme is open to students aged 14–18 (at the time of applying), who have not yet started higher education.
You do not need any previous knowledge of the industry, just enthusiasm, curiosity and a willingness to learn.
Our inclusive work experience placements are usually office-based, but virtual placements can also be arranged if needed, so you do not need to live near one of our offices to apply.
We’ll be sharing details of how to apply for our summer 2027 work experience programme in December.
Please visit our website in the coming months for further information.
The 2026 work experience programme once again delivered outstanding results, and the feedback from students has been overwhelmingly positive:
I just wanted to say thanks for the work experience week and the effort you made to arrange meetings with the other engineers. I really enjoyed the experience and hopefully I will get the opportunity to come back to the company in the future.Work experience student
I just wanted to say a sincere thank you for allowing me to take part in the dam design project as part of my work experience. I’m truly grateful that I was allowed to learn from professionals in such a respected company. I especially appreciated the thoughtful feedback you gave on my presentation, and even more so the personalised advice about my learning style. Having the chance to speak with various professionals from across the built environment industry was a real highlight as it gave me a much clearer picture of what a career in this field looks like.Work experience student
I'd like to thank you all for this incredible opportunity! It has truly been a great learning experience, and I have taken away a lot from this week. I've found it very interesting to experience an office environment, meet new people, and form positive work relationships. The project I selected was fascinating and really engaged my creativity and critical-thinking. I have really expanded my knowledge of engineering during this week and have discovered many possible options for jobs in an engineering career as a result of the many helpful talks provided.Work experience student
