Job Description

Make Change Matter

At Mott MacDonald, we believe in the power of people, purpose, and partnership to drive meaningful transformation. As a graduate in our strategic advisory team, you’ll help clients navigate complex challenges, unlock opportunities, and deliver lasting impact - beyond capital project delivery.

You’ll be part of a dynamic, diverse, and ambitious team that values trust, transparency, and inclusion. We’re committed to creating fulfilling careers, where everyone has equal opportunity to grow, contribute, and thrive.

About the Team

Our successful graduates will join one of the following teams within our Strategic Advisory business unit:

Asset, Data and Information – Building capability to optimise asset performance and deliver business objectives efficiently, as well as combining technical expertise with digital innovation to reshape how organisations use data, technology, and business models.

Business Change and Transformation – Supporting and advising UK infrastructure organisations during their ‘transformation decade’ to deliver a massive increase in capital investment. Helping them achieve key challenges, from building business cases to enhancing resilience and achieve net zero targets, embedding innovation management to designing and delivering digitally enabled operations to improve efficiency. You will work on supporting capital programmes integrate people, digital and physical resources, build capability to embed changes into operations, bridge the gap between strategy and delivery, and mature organisation processes and structures.

You’ll have the opportunity to rotate across the capabilities of the team, gaining broad experience and working with a wide range of clients. This approach ensures a well-rounded foundation and helps you discover where your strengths and passions lie.

What We Offer

  • A structured graduate development programme with mentoring, training, and clear progression pathways.
  • Opportunities to work on impactful projects that improve society and shape industries.
  • A culture that celebrates achievements, values diversity, and prioritises wellbeing.
  • Flexible working options to support your personal and professional life.
  • A supportive environment where your ideas are heard and your growth is championed.

At Mott MacDonald, your work will matter. You’ll help transform organisations, communities, and lives - while building a career with purpose.

Candidate Specification:

At Mott MacDonald, we’re looking for curious, motivated graduates who want to make a real difference.  Join our purpose-driven teams where your ideas matter, your growth is supported, and your work enhances the world we live in.

To be eligible for this opportunity, you will have less than 12 months’ relevant experience (excluding placements) and have a bachelor’s degree (obtained no earlier than 2025).

We welcome applicants from a broad range of degree disciplines and are more interested in the skills and perspectives you can bring than in a specific subject. Typical degrees may include Business, Economics, Humanities, Mathematics, Business Analytics and Management, but this list is not exhaustive. You should be able to demonstrate an analytical mindset, using evidence and structured thinking to understand problems and develop solutions, alongside strong written communication skills that enable you to explain complex information clearly and concisely.

In your application, you should aim to demonstrate your genuine interest in both the opportunity and in joining Mott MacDonald. You can do this by highlighting any relevant experience or interests - such as modules you've studied, previous work experience, or any research you've undertaken about our company, values, and projects.

UK Immigration

Mott MacDonald Ltd. are not currently offering sponsorship to candidates under the Skilled Worker visa route in the UK. This decision is as a consequence of the changes made to the Skilled Worker route by the UK Government in April 2024.

Our ethos is to develop, train and retain our graduates and therefore we are looking for a long-term relationship with our graduates. For this reason, we cannot accept applications from candidates who would be working under the Graduate visa route or other time-limited visas, (irrespective of visa duration), due to their temporary nature and the requirement for sponsorship under the Skilled Worker route in future.

We continue to welcome applications from candidates who are eligible for alternative immigration routes in the UK, that do not require sponsorship as a Skilled Worker now or in future.

AI Usage

At Mott MacDonald, we see the value AI can bring, but we take a people-first approach to hiring. While AI tools can help candidates prepare and build confidence, every application and hiring decision is reviewed by our recruitment and hiring teams. We encourage the responsible use of AI while ensuring we get to know the real person behind the application.

We want you to feel supported and able to perform at your best throughout our recruitment process. If there is anything we can do to make applying or interviewing with us more accessible, please contact us at reasonable.adjustments@mottmac.com and we'll be happy to discuss how we can help.
