About the business unit
The Buildings Unit (BLD) has a major presence in Mott MacDonald's regional offices throughout the UK and mainland Europe, providing a wide range of diverse and transferable cross-sector skills across five key Sectors; Advisory, Built Environment, Energy, Transportation and Water. We also provide local services to customers and technical leadership to the rest of the Group in these sectors.
Overview of the role
We are looking for a Facilities Management Professional to join our rapidly expanding Facilities Management consultancy service This is a truly exciting opportunity to join an ambitious and growing FM Advisory team to help transform the built environment.
The built environment is changing at rapid pace, with greater digital innovation changing the understanding of building performance and demand for greater efficiency and flexibility in the way spaces can be used. Estate owners and operators are having to identify how they can balance increasing standards with resource constraints on a whole life basis.
Mott MacDonald’s team of Facilities Management consultants provide technical and commercial advice on these very challenges to a wide range of public and private sector customers. We are currently experiencing strong demand for our expertise and are looking to grow the FM team to work on projects throughout the UK, Ireland and globally. Will you join us?
With experience of the FM market, we are looking for you to support our customers through all stages of the asset life cycle to achieve strategic objectives by adding long-term value and optimising performance, to benefit end users. This includes supporting operational FM teams, contributing to procurement activities, assisting with asset management improvements, and developing skills in areas such as CAFM, lifecycle planning, cost analysis, and benchmarking.
You will be supported through structured development, mentoring, and opportunities to work towards professional qualifications (e.g. IWFM, RICS, APM).
Candidate specification
As a valued member of our FM Advisory team you will support the delivery of FM-related projects for our clients, working alongside colleagues on both strategic and operational aspects of FM projects. Committed to professional development, you will work in a multidisciplinary team where collaboration and networking are essential to problem solving and delivering successful customer solutions.
We welcome applicants transitioning from operational FM roles who are looking to move into an advisory/consultancy environment.
Essential:
Knowledge of asset and facilities management gained in an operational or consultancy environment
Technical, excel and report writing skills, with the ability to use these skills to meet the needs of our clients
Good communication, interpersonal and teamwork skills
Curiosity and a strong motivation to learn and build a career in FM advisory
Ability to prioritise and manage tasks
An analytical thinker and problem-solving attitude
An understanding of / interest in technology in use in FM, and / or digital construction
Desirable:
Knowledge of PowerBi would be an advantage
Knowledge of Government Soft Landings is advantageous
Educated to degree level
Writing specifications and performance mechanisms
Working knowledge of relevant ISO standards
An interest in working towards a relevant professional qualification (e.g. IWFM, RICS, CIOB, APM), with support provided
Membership of IWFM or IAM
Experience and understanding of asset modelling and management systems
