About the role:
The successful candidate will have demonstrable experience of project team leadership in building structures projects, possessing a sound technical background, and will be working on a variety of built environment projects.
You will be expected to combine managerial leadership and technical responsibilities, promote a collaborative approach and inspire the team to deliver projects to quality, budget and timescales.
Key responsibilities and duties are listed, but not limited to, the below:
- Prepare designs, specifications, calculations, drawings and risk assessments for maintenance, refurbishment and new build schemes; obtain statutory approvals where needed.
- Provide project management and team leadership for the preparation of concept, scheme, and detailed design calculations and drawings for structural projects.
- Leading and undertaking structural engineering analysis and design.
- Ability to inspect works carried out on site and monitor quality and compliance with design.
- Be accountable for the timely production and delivery of reliable design solutions, reports, specifications and drawings.
- Actively share knowledge and assist in the mentoring and technical development of junior engineers and technicians.
- Ensure all design work is carried out in accordance with Company’s quality standard procedures.
- Provide effective task and resource management and monitor against agreed scope, programme and budget.
- Provide structural technical support and manage the technical accuracy of the project delivery
- Present technical aspects of a project and structural design approach to technical and non-technical individuals
- Maintaining a comprehensive knowledge and appreciation of current technical engineering codes and practices and taking a role in technical matters both at project and divisional level
Candidate Specification:
- Bachelors’ Degree in Civil or Structural engineering; member of the a professional engineering institute, namely the ICE or IStructE
- Experience working in an international design consultancy.
- Experience in engineering design primarily in building structures and in roles of increasing responsibility and project complexity
- Experience in UAE with an understanding of Dubai & Abu Dhabi codes, standards and authorities is a must.
- Demonstrable record of successfully designing and delivering building structures projects
- Experienced in using analytical/design software such as, Etabs, Safe, Staad, Robot, RAM Concept, Tekla Tedds
- Experienced in using BIM software such as BIM 360, ACC, Navisworks, Revit, and Blue Beam.
- Experience with scripting and parametric software such as Rhino, Grasshopper and Dynamo will have an added advantage.
- Demonstrable experience of planning and monitoring project programmes, costs and resources ensuring delivery to time and budget
- IT and standard industry software skills
- Continuously looking for innovations and improvements to manage workload and accomplish deliverables across individuals, teams and projects
- Using leadership skills to build and nurture relationships and also creating effective working environments.
- Able to manage multiple teams with diverse backgrounds on geographically and culturally diverse teams.
