Mott MacDonald is currently seeking a Senior Civil Engineer based out of our Vancouver, Calgary or Toronto office.

 

As a Senior Civil Engineer, your role responsibilities are expected to include:

 

  • Lead the planning, design, and delivery of complex civil infrastructure projects, including roadway/highway, municipal servicing, utility, and land development projects.
  • Serve as a technical lead within multidisciplinary project teams, ensuring designs are coordinated, compliant, and aligned with client objectives and regulatory requirements.
  • Oversee the preparation and review of engineering designs, technical reports, specifications, quantities, cost estimates, and contract documents.
  • Provide technical leadership in the development of roadway geometry, grading, drainage, stormwater management, utility servicing, site development, and transportation infrastructure solutions.
  • Mentor, coach, and provide technical guidance to junior and intermediate engineers, designers, and other project team members.
  • Support project managers with project planning, resourcing, scope management, budgeting, scheduling, and risk mitigation activities.
  • Act as a key point of contact for clients, municipalities, utility agencies, contractors, and other stakeholders throughout project delivery.
  • Lead design reviews and quality assurance processes to ensure high-quality deliverables and adherence to industry standards and best practices.
  • Support business development initiatives, including proposal preparation, client relationship management, and identifying opportunities for future work.
  • Provide engineering judgment and practical solutions to complex technical challenges while maintaining project objectives and client expectations.

 

You will have experience in civil infrastructure projects and possess the following skills and experience:

 

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering; a Master's degree is considered an asset.
  • Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation in Canada and in good standing.
  • 10–15 years of progressive experience in civil engineering, with significant experience in roadway/highway, municipal infrastructure, utilities, and/or land development projects.
  • Strong technical expertise in civil engineering design, including grading, drainage, stormwater management, municipal servicing, transportation infrastructure, and utility coordination.
  • Experience leading multidisciplinary project teams and managing the technical delivery of complex civil infrastructure projects.
  • Strong understanding of municipal, provincial, and industry design standards, regulations, and approval processes.
  • Demonstrated experience preparing and reviewing technical reports, engineering studies, specifications, and contract documents.
  • Proven ability to mentor and develop engineers and technical staff.
  • Excellent client relationship, stakeholder management, and communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and leadership abilities with experience managing multiple priorities and project deadlines.
  • Ability to build and maintain strong working relationships with clients, business partners, contractors, regulatory authorities, and internal teams.
  • Proficiency with industry-standard software such as AutoCAD Civil 3D, MicroStation, OpenRoads/InRoads, and related civil engineering design tools.
  • Experience supporting proposal development, business development, and strategic growth initiatives is considered an asset.

Multiple factors such as qualifications, overall experience and position responsibilities will be used to determine the successful candidate's actual salary within the expected range.

 

 

The expected salary range for this position is from $126,000 - $154,000.
