Global Delivery Services Centre (GDSC) is a high-impact business unit within Mott MacDonald, dedicated to enhancing project delivery across our global operations. You will be responsible for the following:
As a Lighting and Electrical Engineer working within the Highways and Infrastructure Lighting Team , you will collaborate with all our international offices, primarily UK. The role will provide a range of challenging and dynamic projects where you can receive and develop a brief and contribute to the development of the design process.
It is expected that you will have the knowledge and experience to undertake the design of external lighting schemes using industry-standard software (e.g. Lighting Reality, DiaLux (4.13 and Evo), AGI) and applying results within the Building Information Modelling (BIM) and 3D modelling environment, to carry out general lighting design works and environmental lighting impact assessments within budgetary and timescale constraints as directed by senior members of the local and international team. In addition, knowledge and experience in undertaking electrical design utilising industry standard software package (Trimble Pro Design) to complete private cable network (PCN) designs. The role will be varied, demanding, and challenging but will provide an opportunity to develop your career within Mott MacDonald. Also, Where required, training will be provided to help further develop your existing skills to enable you.
Key elements to successfully fulfil the role of Lighting and Electrical Engineer are:
Technical Excellence
Develop and demonstrate technical excellence
Design of new and replacement highway and amenity lighting schemes to BS5489
Design and verification of general low voltage (LV) private cable networks to BS7671
Assist in the production of contractual documentation (Inc., the specification and bills of quantities/schedule of rates)
Develop a good knowledge of and adapt to lighting and electrical technology changes, design techniques and H&S legislation to ensure that all works are carried out to current best practices and criteria.
Successful Project Delivery
Working on a range of projects of varying size and scale across both the public and private sectors (including overseas) throughout the entire project lifecycle
Production of design drawings and schematics using a range of software in the BIM environment
Be aware of and follow the MM procedures, including taking responsibility for Health and Safety, as well as the CDM Regulations 2015
Assist in achieving client satisfaction and securing repeat work
Teamwork
Assist senior team members in carrying out visual site inspections and surveys.
You will support the team leader/project manager maintain a collaborative and inclusive culture.
Demonstrate a proactive approach to project and technical challenges.
Undertake any other duties consistent with the basic objectives and responsibilities of the post.
