Your Opportunity 

 

Due to strong growth and an exciting pipeline of projects, Mott MacDonald's Defence and Security team has an exciting opening for a Technical Director Project Management in the Perth office. This position provides specialist technical and strategic advice across Defence nuclear infrastructure programmes, supporting both clients and internal leadership teams.Working closely with the Defence National Programmes Lead, the role will contribute to market positioning, client engagement, and successful delivery across a growing Defence portfolio, with a strong focus on opportunities in Western Australia. You will be joining a diverse and passionate team with a proven track record delivering major projects across Australia. 

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide subject matter expertise in Defence nuclear infrastructure, supporting advisory and delivery services across major programmes
  • Support enterprise-level infrastructure planning for AUKUS, including long-term programme development and readiness
  • Contribute to market positioning, pursuit strategies and tender submissions across the Defence sector
  • Build and maintain relationships with key Defence stakeholders and prime contractors (e.g. BAE, Babcock Marine)
  • Facilitate knowledge transfer by connecting Australian Defence teams with global expertise and lessons learnt from comparable programmes
  • Provide strategic input to downstream project and programme opportunities across national Defence initiatives
  • Strengthen linkages between Australian Defence leadership and the wider global defence business to improve access to specialist capability

About You

  • Tertiary qualifications relevant to project management or engineering disciplines with chartership desirable​
  • Extensive experience in Defence infrastructure, ideally within nuclear or highly regulated environments
  • Strong understanding of large-scale programme delivery, including advisory and planning phases
  • Proven ability to engage with government clients and Defence primes at a senior level
  • Experience contributing to bids, tenders and client engagement strategiesAbility to bring global best practice into complex local delivery environments
  • Citizen of Australian and ability to achieve a current baseline and Negative Vetting Level 1 (NV1) security clearance
