Our Seattle team delivers a diverse range of waterfront, port, naval facilities, and civil infrastructure projects throughout the Pacific Northwest and across North America.

 

As our workload continues to grow, we are seeking a motivated Civil Engineer to support the planning, design, and delivery of maritime and civil infrastructure projects for commercial ports, waterfront developers, and federal clients including NPS, USCG, and NAVFAC.

 

The Opportunity:

This role is ideal for a well-rounded civil engineer with approximately 5 years of experience who enjoys working across multiple disciplines. You will contribute to the design of site civil infrastructure, storm drainage systems, pavements, grading improvements, and waterfront facility projects while collaborating with structural, geotechnical, coastal, and construction teams.

 

The successful candidate will have experience delivering civil engineering designs and an interest in maritime, waterfront, port, and federal infrastructure projects.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare civil engineering designs and calculations for waterfront, port, maritime, and site development projects.
  • Design site grading, drainage, stormwater management, coordinate utility systems, and pavement improvements.
  • Develop engineering plans, specifications, technical reports, and construction documents.
  • Support the design and rehabilitation of port and waterfront facilities.
  • Coordinate with structural, geotechnical, environmental, and coastal engineering teams.
  • Perform hydrologic and hydraulic analyses for stormwater and drainage systems.
  • Assist with condition assessments, field investigations, and engineering inspections.
  • Support construction-phase services, including shop drawing reviews, RFIs, and site visits.
  • Participate in client meetings and coordination with contractors, regulatory agencies, and project stakeholders.
  • Contribute to proposal development and business development activities when required.
  • Ensure designs are delivered in accordance with quality, safety, and client requirements.
  • Project management

 

Preferred Technical Experience:

Experience in several of the following areas is highly desirable:

  • Waterfront, maritime, or port infrastructure projects.
  • NPS, USCG, NAVFAC, USACE, or other federal agency projects.
  • Site layout and planning
  • Site grading and earthwork design.
  • Storm drainage and stormwater management systems.
  • Pavement design and rehabilitation.
  • Utility coordination and site development.
  • Inspection and construction administration.
  • Some structural design experience related to civil infrastructure, including:
    • Shallow concrete foundations
    • Minor reinforced concrete design
    • Equipment foundations

 

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited university.
  • Approximately 5-10 years of relevant civil engineering experience.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) licensure, WA required, CA preferred.
  • Experience preparing engineering calculations, drawings, specifications, and technical reports.
  • Project Management experience on small to medium projects.
  • Familiarity with local, state, and federal design standards.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary project teams.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working on port, waterfront, maritime, or naval facilities projects.
  • Construction observation or inspection experience.
  • Experience working with federal clients such as NAVFAC, USACE, DoD, or other government agencies.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D and related engineering software.
  • Experience with stormwater modelling and hydraulic analysis tools.

Individual pay is determined based on several factors such as work location, education, experience, and unique skills.

 

 

The expected salary for this position is $126,000 - $154,000.
