Global engineering, management and development consultancy Mott MacDonald has moved to new offices in Belfast as it celebrates 70 years in the city.
The larger office in the city centre’s prominent River House will accommodate 80 colleagues and allow for continued expansion.
From its base in Belfast, the multi-disciplinary company supports clients operating across the buildings, transport, health, education, local government, energy, water and environment sectors. Across the island of Ireland, the company also has offices in Dublin, Cork, Limerick and Galway.

Since it first opened its doors in 1954, Mott MacDonald has helped deliver some of the country’s most impactful projects including the Cross Harbour Rail Link in Belfast, Waterfront Hall, North-West Transport Hub in Derry~Londonderry, Ulster University Belfast Campus, the new terminal extension at Belfast International Airport and Strule Shared Education Campus.
Speaking at the official opening event, Derek Burnside, Mott MacDonald lead in Belfast said: “For more than 70 years we have worked hard to deliver on behalf of Belfast and the wider Northern Ireland community. We have built a deep understanding of the people and our markets across the country, and are fortunate to attract some of the best talent in the industry to help deliver for our clients.
“Our office expansion signifies our commitment to clients and partners and is a fitting way to mark 70 years of growth across Ireland. We look forward to continuing to play an important role in our local communities, strengthening relationships with our clients and forging new ones.”
The offices were officially opened by the Lord Mayor of Belfast, Micky Murray and CEO of Belfast Chamber of Commerce, Clare Guinness.
The Lord Mayor added: “It is a privilege to mark Mott MacDonald’s move to their new home in Belfast city centre. Over the past 70 years their commitment to engineering, infrastructure and physical development projects has contributed to the revitalisation of our city. The move to this new office is testament to their continued investment into our economy, our people and our future”.
